Terms of Service

1. Who we are

Stellenbosch Maths Studio (“we”, “us”, “the studio”) provides real-world tutoring packages (Maths Lab, Boost Sessions, and Revision Courses), booking tools, notices, and study-resource links through this app.

2. Accounts and WhatsApp sign-in

Accounts are for parents or guardians who manage one or more learners. Sign-in uses your South African mobile / WhatsApp number verified by SMS one-time code. You must provide accurate details and keep access to that number secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.

3. Learners

Learner profiles (name, grade, school, and optional WhatsApp number) are used to place learners in the correct Term Class groups and manage bookings. By adding a learner, you confirm you have authority to enrol that learner and, if you provide a child’s WhatsApp number, to allow us to use it for tutoring communications.

4. Packages and bookings

Packages are tutoring services delivered in person. Purchasing does not guarantee a preferred slot until payment is verified and availability is confirmed under studio rules.

• Term Classes: Fixed weekly group by school and grade for the term. Waitlists may apply when a group is full. In 2026, joining after classes start costs the full term price if a place and future class remain. A R200 booklet fee is added to each learner's first Term Class purchase in a calendar year.
• Maths Lab: Session credits booked on a Lab calendar. Maths Lab is only for learners enrolled in Term Classes. The tutor approves access in the app before purchase. Bookings close six hours before a session.
• Boost & Revision: Booked on their calendars; optional focus notes help the tutor prepare. Bookings close twelve hours before a session.

Maths Lab and Boost credits last for ten weeks of term time. If fewer than ten weeks remain in the current term, leftover weeks continue in the next term only if that term is in the same calendar year. They do not carry into the following year. Sessions must take place before expiry. Unused credits do not receive a cash refund except where required by South African law.

5. Payments

Payments are processed by a third-party provider (currently Paystack). Card details are handled by the provider, not stored by the app. Packages become active only after successful payment verification. No monetary refunds are offered for packages or bookings, except where required by South African law. A parent who cancels an eligible Lab booking at least six hours before it starts, or a Boost or Revision booking at least twelve hours before it starts, receives a session credit, not a cash refund. Restored Lab and Boost credits keep their original expiry date. Later changes require the tutor's approval.

6. Scheduling changes and moves

Session times, venues, and groupings may change for operational reasons (for example school sport schedule changes). We may move a learner between Term Class groups when necessary. When a learner is moved, the vacated spot may reopen and waitlisted families may be notified. If a booked Lab, Boost, or Revision session changes date or time, its booking moves with the session and affected parents are notified.

7. Term renewal

When the next term opens, returning Term Class learners may receive a temporary hold on their equivalent weekly group. The app shows the hold's expiry date; it is confirmed only after payment. Unconfirmed places may then open to the waitlist or other families.

8. Communications

You agree that we may contact you about schedules, renewals, waitlists, invoices, notices, and studio updates via WhatsApp and in-app / push notifications.

9. Study Tools and BlikBrein

The app may link to BlikBrein and offer downloadable practice booklets. Booklet downloads may be capped per user. BlikBrein access included with Term Classes (where advertised) is provisioned by the tutor and is subject to BlikBrein’s own terms.

10. Acceptable use

Learners and parents must treat tutors and other families respectfully. We may refuse or cancel services for serious misconduct or misuse of the app.

11. Privacy (POPIA)

Personal information, including children’s names, grades, schools, and contact numbers you provide, is processed to deliver tutoring and booking under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). See our Privacy Policy for details.

12. Updates to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version is published here with a version number. Material updates may require you to accept the new version in the app before continuing to purchase.
